COMAND improves the water holding capacity of sandy soils, while increasing infiltration and permeability. Because COMAND can hold up to six times it’s weight in water, it provides greater drought resistance and requires less irrigation. There is simply no other more effective water conservation method for turfgrass management.
Cations are positively charged ions such as calcium (Ca2+), potassium (K+) and iron (Fe2+). Course or sandy soil types typically possess a low cation exchange capacity, which means there are fewer negatively charged ions to hold these positive nutrients. The organic matter in COMAND provides these negative charges which retain nutrients through electrostatic forces.
Actinomycetes are a beneficial microbe that populate the soil and coat outer surfaces of plant roots, driving away parasitic fungi and soil-borne pathogens.
More than 10% of the total fungi population in COMAND are carnivorous, and possess the ability to penetrate nematodes and digest their internal contents.
The types of organisms and microbes present in COMAND are determined, monitored and verified through DNA extraction to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
Thatch is undecomposed organic material that restricts water percolation and air movement. Under compaction, thatch can lead to anaerobic conditions which causes all kinds of turf problems.
